Magnesium In an article titled "Magnesium and Cancer" by Andrea S. Blevins
Primeau, PhD, MBA, she writes "Magnesium is a critical mineral that is involved in
over 600 enzymatic reactions, including those important for brain, heart,
and skeletal muscle functions. Interestingly, about 60% of Americans are deficient in magnesium, including
up to 60% of patients who are critically ill. In regard to cancer, magnesium
intake has been associated with the incidence of some cancers and has
been studied as a protective agent against chemotherapy-induced nephrotoxicity
and neurotoxicity. Her conclusion is that "Epidemiologic studies suggest that total
magnesium intake may reduce the risk of CRC and pancreatic cancer. Several studies, including a randomized controlled trial, suggest that
prehydration with magnesium or magnesium supplementation is protective
against cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity. Magnesium in addition to calcium,
however, does not appear to be protective against chemotherapy-induced
neurotoxicity."
Magnesium and cancer: a dangerous liason by Sara Castiglioni and Jeanette
A.M. Maier
Writes in her abstract that " Magnesium acts as a protective agent
in colo-rectal cancer by inhibiting c-myc expression andornithine decarboxylase
activity in the mucosalepithelium of the intestine. Thus, it is feasibleto
propose that magnesium acts as a chemopre-ventive agent." In her
conclusion she says "Although the evidence is still fragmentary,
most ofthe data available point to magnesium as a chemo-preventive agent,
so that optimizing magnesiumintake might represent an effective and low-costpreventive
measure to reduce cancer risk. Doubtsremain about supplementing cancer
patients withmagnesium.
The recently revived interest in the relationshipbetween magnesium and
tumors, both in expe-rimental and clinical oncology, should encouragemore
studies that would advance our understan-ding of the role of magnesium
in tumors, and couldexplore the possibility that optimizing magnesiumhomeostasis
might prevent cancer or help in itstreatment.
Review A systematic review by the International Society for the Development
of Research on Magnesium found that magnesium deficiency can lead to the
initiation and proliferation of cancer, as well as hinder treatment. This
association is easy to understand: Magnesium plays a role in over 300
biochemical reactions, affects the stabilization of cell membranes, and
protects cells from heavy metals, such as mercury and lead.16 Cells will
wither and die without adequate magnesium. Low magnesium will negatively
affect permeability of the cell, and several studies have suggested that
this can initiate carcinogenesis. A study published in the year 2000 found that almost half of cancer patients
admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) had low magnesium levels. Iodine
Watch the video below and hear how Dr. Flechas discusses how iodine insufficiency is associated with a higher risk for developing cancer. Estrogen can inhibit the absorption of iodine at the cellular level. Insufficiency of iodine in the body is a known precursor for development of cancer. Dr. Flechas spoke on Iodine Insufficiency and and its relationship to cancer at the 16th annual A4M conference in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2009. (About 8 minutes.)
Baking Soda
Does the Baking Soda Cancer Treatment aka (Sodium Bicarbonate) Work? Dr. Tullio Simoncini is a medical doctor in Italy who has done more than anyone to explore the uses of the baking soda cancer treatment as an alternative cancer treatment. It is known that cancer creates and favors an acid environment and because of this, Dr. Simoncini and others have used sodium bicarbodate as an alkaline therapeutic agent. The way that acidity seems to protect cancer is not fully understood. It seems that cytotoxic T-cells, which may attack cancer cells under normal conditions, are inactivated in an acid extracellular fluid.[1] Also, the type of acidity that cancer produces, i.e., lactic acid, stimulates vascular endothelial growth factor and angiogenesis.[2] This is like a highway project, which enables a tumor to build the blood vessels that it needs to bring the nutrients for it to survive. So the tumor creates an environment in which it can then exist comfortably. Dr. Huber Was Featured in a New Documentary “Cancer Can Be Killed” Watch Part of It Now!
